1. Your
agent will review the attorneys HUD statement for accuracy.
-This is the document that lists all funds and where they
go at closing.
-This document will also list your funds needed to close.
-If your lender has not done so, your agent will call you
and give you the amount needed to close.
2. Go to the bank and get a certified
check for any funds needed to close.
-An attorney will not take a personal check unless it is a
small amount such as $250 or so.
3. Be on time and with any parties to
the contract or loan.
-Closings generally last between 45 minutes to an hour.
-You will learn more about your loan, taxes, and what happens
if you don't pay them.
4. The attorney will go and record the
closing at the register of deeds.
-This makes the property legally yours. Until this point,
the seller still has a claim to the property.
5. Get your keys and move in!
